Like other racetams, it also works by increasing the rate of acetylcholine utilization in the frontal lobes. Acetylcholine performs many functions in the brain, but is particularly important for regulating memory and attention.
However, it is interesting to note that fasoracetam has been actually found to promote the release of GABA. GABA is an inhibiting neurotransmitter that is known for improving feelings of relaxation and wellbeing. Summary & Unbiased Review of Fasoracetam
Fasoracetam is a rather unique nootropic that has some distinct properties from other members of its class. As such, it desperately deserves more investigation and human studies.
At this point it’s clear that all the racetams share a similar affinity for the acetylcholine and glutamate system. One can only wonder how the subtle modulation of these systems is differentiated between all the various racetam compounds that currently exist. Some are better suited for memory, some for creativity, and others for mood.
Compared to other racetams, fasoracetam seems most similar to aniracetam due to its mood-elevating properties, although it seems to have different mechanisms altogether.
Because fasoracetam is so new, it’s still something that needs to be examined and studied to really determine its long-term effectiveness. But given its structural similarity with other racetams, it likely provides similar benefits to memory and brain function.
As of now it is currently not sold as a presciption anywhere in the world, and as such is not too difficult to acquire legitimately.
